Silvia Kutscher is professor of the theory and history of multimodal communication. Her main research interests are semiotics and covers the fields of multimodality, iconicity in language and modality of specific properties of sign language. Her other fields of interests are language typology and research in language universals: Morphosyntax and grammar theory, semantics and semantic typology, grammar of space and theory of comparative/contrastive grammar writing. Her current research is focused on multimodality in hieroglyphic egyptian texts and iconicity of hieroglyphic script.
