Workshop PerspectivizationResearch group (C-1) Deixis and Frames of Reference. Perspectivation in Language, Text, and Image of the Excellence Cluster Topoi (Berlin) organizes a workshop that will bring together the doctoral students and PostDoc researchers of the group and associated researchers with distinguished scholars from different fields, who have a special expertise in topics of crucial relevance for our projects. Core topic is the phenomenon of perspectivation in language. The workshop will be organized in two sections, each of which will consist of both guest lectures and presentations by Topoi members and associate researchers.

The first section will focus on alternative means by which a speaker adopts a certain perspective in a given situation. More precisely, emphasis will be given to deictic motion, to the distinction between deictic and non-deictic concepts and to the variety of patterns languages employ with respect to spatial frames of reference.

The second section will focus in particular on the asymmetry between Goal and Source in motion events. The topic will be addressed from various angles, viz. typological, diachronic, psycholinguistic, etc.
