Robert Kade studied ancient studies with a concentration on Egyptology at Freie Universität Berlin and Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg. In 2016 he was awarded a doctoral fellowship in the Topoi research group (B-4) Space – identity – locality. The construction of knowledge related identity spaces and by the Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies. His research project contributes to the BerGSAS PhD program “Ancient Languages and Texts” (ALT) by investigating the influence of ancient Greek on the demotic language and script. During the first phase of the project he compiles a corpus of the relevant textual witnesses and the therein used Greek loanwords. During the second phase the collected data will be evaluated by sociolinguistic methods as well as the research on language contact and the integration of loanwords. During the last phase of the project the complex dispute on the sense and purpose of these borrowings will be discussed extensively.
