Gehrke

Hans-Joachim Gehrke was President of the German Archeological Institute from 2008 to 2011. From 1987 to 2008 he was professor of Ancient History at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg after having taught at the universities of Göttingen, Würzburg and the Freie Universität Berlin. Hans-Joachim Gehrke’s research interests cover the history of ancient Greece, the historical ethnography of the central and eastern Mediterranean, social conflicts and social integration, intercultural relations, concepts of history and collective identities.
