Ortwin Dally is Secretary-General of the German Archeological Insitute (DAI) and honorary professor of Archeology at the Freie Universität Berlin. His research interests include problems of culture contact in Lower Italy and the Black Sea area, concepts of the past in Antiquity and its visualization, the “maintenance” and “restoration” of monuments in Antiquity and Late Antiquity, history of religion and ancient architecture. Within Topoi, Ortwin Dally works on settled people and nomads, on the relation between space and ritual acts and the construction of ritual and sacred landscapes.
