Dennis Mario Beck studied classical archaeology, provincial Roman archaeology and religious studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. While studying he spent one semester abroad at the Università di Roma – La Sapienza. Besides studying he collaborated with several archaeological excavation projects in Simitthus/Chimtou and Meninx/Djerba and worked as a tutor and student assistant at LMU München. In 2015 Dennis Beck joined Topoi as a doctoral fellow. His disseration project supports research group (A-1) Marginal Habitats and the BerGSAS programme Landscape Archaeology and Architecture by investigating publicated results and chronologies on marble quarrying in Simitthus as well as its export and its influence on the urban developement of the city and its surroundings.
