Research Group B-II-2 deals with the structure and mechanisms of spatial organisation and management in the ancient Egypt state. The research is limited to the time period between the Neolithic Era and the Early Middle Ages. Focus is placed on the interaction between state institutions, regional administrations and local elites, in other words, on clarifying the relation between state power, the administrative elites and the other levels of power (villages and communes).
