Ruti Ungar studied history at the Tel Aviv University in Israel. After obtaining her PhD with a doctoral thesis on “The Boxing Discourse in Late Georgian England, 1780-1820: A Study in Civic Humanism, Gender, Class and Race” at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin she worked as project manager of the exhibition “Jewish Mathematicians in German-Speaking Academic Culture” at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main. Her research interests include Jewish History, British History, History of Sport and Popular Culture, and Race and Ethnicity.

In 2013 Ruti Ungar joined Topoi as a coordinator in research area (D) Theory and Science.
