Katrin Siebel studied Latin and English at Technische Universität and Freie Universität Berlin and German as a Foreign Language at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. After passing her second state exam in Berlin in 2006 she worked for the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in two German departments abroad, first as a language assistant at the University of Sydney, then as a lecturer at the Università degli Studi di Napoli ‘L’Orientale’. She returned to Berlin in 2009 and became a staff member at the Department of Classical Philology of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, doing research and teaching didactics. Furthermore, she was collaborating in two externally funded projects on training teachers and students with a migration background. In 2015 Katrin Siebel joined Topoi as a coordinator of research area C. In 2016 she obtained her PhD with a doctoral thesis on Latin vocabulary and the support of multilingualism.
