Dorothée Sack studied architecture at the Karlsruhe Technical College after training as a carpenter. Her doctoral thesis was on Damascus. Since 1983 she has been researching the Islamic Resafa in Syria, concurrent to diverse lectures and guest professorships. In 1999, she was named University Professor for the newly established field of Historical Architectural Research and the Architectural Study of Monument Preservation at the TU Berlin (Since 2003, a master’s study program in monument preservation). Since 2006, leadership of the Resafa Project “Resafa-Sergiupolis – Rusafat Hisham. Pilgrimage Site and Caliph Residency.” |
