Dr. Shervin Farridnejad

Shervin Farridnejad studied Ancient and Middle Iranian Studies and Zoroastrianism in which he received his PhD in 2014 with a thesis entitled “The language of Images: A Study on Iconographic Exegesis of the Anthropomorphic Divine Images in Zoroastrianism” (forthcoming in Harrassowitz) from the Institute of the Iranian Studies, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. His main research interest is the cultural and religious history of Zoroastrianism in late antiquity. His current research interests include the ritulas and their iconoraphy, connections and exchanges between the ancient, eraly modern and contemporary Zoroastrian rituals and practices, the history of late antique Zoroastrianism, as well as the transmission of knowledge in the Ancient Near East. His research focuses also on Zoroastrian religious literature in both ancient and early modern time. His current project at Topoi is a study on “Religious Authority in Zoroastrianism and the Question of Succession: Textual Authority versus Priestly Authority”.
