In this session I will introduce very generally the seven books of the Epidemics (a composite group of texts with individual characteristics and different chronology). I will then concentrate on the “patients reports’ of Epidemics 1 and 3 to discuss the interaction between patient and physician in these texts and the typology of medical visit that emerges, the role of prognosis, and the therapy proposed.
We will then try to answer questions about the aims and occasions of these patient cases, and
the audience they may reflect.
