Mary Beth Wilson is an English language Editor for the Excellence Cluster Topoi. She is responsible for editing English contributions to Topoi’s book series and online-journal and contributing to the assessment and production of Topoi’s books and journals.
With almost ten years working as a freelance editor, Mary Beth Wilson has provided English editing for academic works from different disciplines, including: Anthropology, Archaeology, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Human Geography, Physical Geography, Political Science, and Security Studies. She has also edited fiction works for individual authors, as well as reports, evaluations, and project proposals in her role as an International Development Consultant, where she worked as a Monitoring & Evaluation and Research Specialist for over a decade.
Mary Beth is originally from the United States. She obtained a dual degree (BA) in History and International Studies from Kenyon College of Ohio, a Masters in International Studies from Johns Hopkins (SAIS), and a doctoral degree in Human Geography from the Freie Universität Berlin. Her dissertation focused on the impacts of participatory development at the micro-level on aspects of human security and empowerment. This research was grounded in empirical data she collected during fieldwork conducted in Northern Afghanistan.
