Roman Timenchik is Professor Emeritus of Russian Philology from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He studied Russian philology at Latvian State University and received a doctorate from Tartu University in 1982 with a work on “The artistic Principles of the Pre-Revolutionary Poetry of Anna Akhmatova”.
Besides his affiliation with the Hebrew University he has held positions at diverse universities, such as the University of California, Stanford University the Center for Slavic Languages and Literatures, Indiana University, the University of Wisconsin or the University of Chicago.
During his research stay at Topoi he works on a project on “Topoi from the Tanakh via the Old Church Slavonic Tradition” which is part of the investigations of research group (D-4) Immaterial Causes and Physical Space.
