Manfred G. Schmidt is director of the Research Center ‘Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum’ at the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), president of the ‘Association Internationale d’Épigraphie Grecque et Latine’ (AIEGL) and member of the ‘Pontificia Accademia Romana di Archeologia’. Within Research Area B ‘Constructing Historical Space’ Manfred G. Schmidt studies infrastructures of the Roman Empire under the keywords “Routes – Water – Knowledge”. His research focuses on the Miliaria provinciarum Hispanarum (CIL XVII/1).
