Prof. Dr. Helmut Pfeiffer

Helmut Pfeiffer has been Professor of Romance Literatures and Comparative Literature at the Humboldt-University zu Berlin since 1993. His major research areas are the French and the Italian Renaissance, the literature of the Enlightenment, Realism and Modern French Literatures. His theoretical interests comprise the anthropology of literature, the theory and the functions of fictional discourse, the relations of literature to political, philosophical and religious discourse, narrative and trauma.

In Topoi he is working within the context of B-3 Ökonomie/Oikonomia on a project about parasitic economies.
