Prof. Dr. Tanja Michalsky

Tanja Michalsky is an art historian. Her research interests include commemorative culture, political iconography and the relationship between landscape painting and geography. Recent studies focus on how the visual arts contribute to larger visual discourses, especially to conceptions of social and political spaces. She was appointed Head of the Max Planck Institut für Kunstgeschichte – Bibliotheca Hertziana in 2015.
