Prof. Dr. Didier Marcotte

Didier Marcotte has been Professor of Classical Philology and Greek Literature at the Université de Reimes since 2001. His research focuses on ancient geography and textual transmission. In 2011 he was appointed as Senior Fellow of the Institut universitaire de France. From 2010 to 2013 he has managed a research project on the Indian Ocean (MeDIan), which resulted in different publications and an exhibition at the BnF. Currently Didier Marcotte coordinates a new edition of the Greek geographer.

During his residence at Topoi he is involved in multiple activities of research group (C-5) Common Sense Geography including lectures of the reading group “Griechisch-römische Texte zur Geographie des Altertums” and of the “Althistorisches Colloqium”. In collaborative work with Topoi researchers he edits a specialized dictionary of the ancient geography and cartography.
