Alexander Kulik is Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research mainly deals with the transmission of written sources and ideas within the Slavic and Jewish history and culture. Besides his appointment in Jerusalem, he has held academic positions in Harvard, Moscow, London, Stanford, Oxford and Berlin.
During his fellowship at Topoi he investigated the textual transformation of the Ladder of Jacob which is an early Jewish apocalyptic pseudepigraphon preserved in Slavonic by by contextualizing it with the process of intercultural transmission.
