Deborah Jacobs studied Theology and Jewish Studies in Berlin before completing a Master’s degree in Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford in 2008. She wrote her doctoral thesis titled “Images of Space in the Third Sibylline Oracle” on Jewish pseudepigraph in the Second Temple Period. The thesis focused on how space and dominion of space are structured within the text and how this may shed light on the socio-historical environment and the theology of the author. After spending two years as an assisstent researcher at the University of Basel, she was Postdoc-fellow at Topoi in 2014 by having worked on an article on the Jewish ban on images in antiquity. Since 2013 she is researcher within the Papyri-Project in the Institut für Judaistik at Freie Universität Berlin.
