Vasile Iarmulschi is a historian at the Moldavian Academy of Sciences in Chisinau. He studied history and ethno-pedagogics at the Ion Creanga Educational State University where he still works as an editor of the Institute of History. In 2014 he received a PhD with a thesis on the migration of the Bastarnae in the Eastern Carpathian region. During his PhD he had a research stay at the Institut für Prähistorische Archäologie, Freie Universität Berlin.
From 2006 to 2017 he was researcher in the Institute for Cultural Heritage at the Moldavian Academy of Sciences. In 2015 he was awarded an Alexander-von-Humboldt-fellowship that he carries out in the Institut für Prähistorische Archäologie at Freie Universität Berlin.
During a research stay at Topoi (February to March 2017) he collaborates with the research group (A-5) Iron as a raw material. His research mainly deals with late La Tène period, particularly the invasion of Bastarnaeian tribes in the Eastern Carpathian forest steppe whose roots coincide with the Poieneşti-Lucaşeuca-culture .
