Christian Golüke studied classical archaeology, pre- and early history and ancient history in Bochum and Münster. He was researcher in diverse archaeologic projects such as in the Lysimacheia-project of the Westfälisch-Wilhelms-Universität Münster and in the LVR-Archäologischer Park Xanten. In 2012 and 2013 he was head of the 24th and 25th International Summer Academy Xanten.
His research focuses on the history of weighing. The use of a sliding weight is elementary for the function of the ancient unequal-armed balance (statera). But furthermore many equal-armed balances work with the use of an additional slider. This usually neglected case is examined by Christian Golüke concerning technical and chronological aspects.
