Pascal Arnaud is an Ancient Historian, Philologist and Geographer, as well as an Archaeologist. He habilitated in 1991 with a work on Rome`s cartography. Since 2010 he is Professor of Roman History at Université Lumière Lyon 2. Besides that he is Senior Fellow at Institut Universitaire de France and Co-Director of the Portus Limen Project . Pascal Arnaud has worked on the Roman and Parthian Near East. Furthermore, his researches focus on ancient geographical knowledge, ancient seafaring, travel and trade. He is also interested in the organization of Roman cities and in spatial archaeology. During his research stay at Topoi Pascal Arnaud investigates ancient water routes within the research project (C-5-3) Insularity.
