Stefanie Samida, born in 1973, studied Prehistoric Archaeology at the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen/Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel and Media Studies at the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen. She wrote her doctoral thesis on “Science Communication on the Internet: New Media in Archaeology” and her latest research project is being devoted to “Heinrich Schliemann and his Excavations in the Mass-Press: Studies on Popularization of Archaeological Investigations in the Nineteenth Century” (funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation). In addition, she has organized a conference on “’Staging Sciences and Humanities‘: Transmission and Reception of Knowledge in the 19th Century“ (‘Inszenierte Wissenschaft’: Vermittlung und Rezeption von Wissen im 19. Jahrhundert). Her research interests include archaeology and public/media, the history of archaeology, visualization practices in archaeology and archaeological theory. Her research in TOPOI focuses on „Staging the Past in Archaeological Open-Air Museums“.
