Research Group D-III-E-II-1 focuses on the notion of topos itself. The main task is to analyze the term’s ambiguity, which derives from its various applications. Also to be investigated are the transformation and modification of the concept of topoi starting from Aristotle’s theory of argumentation to the manifold types of discourse of the Renaissance, which are the background for various modern epistemologies.
